Sunday Service - 31st May 2020

It is not always easy to know when or how to share faith. Paul has some great advice in Romans 12, showing us what sharing faith looks like from his perspective...

"10 Love each other with genuine affection, and take delight in honouring each other. 11 Never be lazy, but work hard and serve the Lord enthusiastically. 12 Rejoice in our confident hope. Be patient in trouble, and keep on praying. 13 When God’s people are in need, be ready to help them. Always be eager to practice hospitality."

Bible Lessons for Pentecost

Kevin has given me two readings this week. Julie will be teaching on the Parable of the Sower in the live portion of our service, and in Acts 2 we see where it all began at Pentecost. Both readings are about sharing faith - some will listen to you, but other's won't.

They are familiar passages, but there is always something new to learn, so I would encourage you to take your time with these readings today. Perhaps consider what it means to 'rejoice in our confident hope' as Paul suggests. Sharing faith will not always be as spectacular as Pentecost and the changing shape of our present lockdown presents new challenges, so you may have some thoughts on how you could 'practice hospitality' or 'serve the Lord enthusiastically,' in the coming weeks.

Worship

Kevin leads us in singing Broken Vessels - a song inspired by 'Amazing Grace'. Hayfever season has hit in the Jennings household, so I have taken the chance to revisit an 'old' recording of 'Endless Hallelujah'. And finally... a new song 'Upon Him'.

Click here for the playlist. The words for 'Upon Him' are below...

Upon a hill, a perfect Saviour Upon that day, the greatest love The punishment that should have fallen on us Upon Him, upon Him

Upon His head, a crown of thorns Upon His heart, a broken world The wage of sin, the weight of our transgressions Upon Him, upon Him

Christ has died, we are forgiven And Christ alive, we are the risen And He shall come again Praise the King, praise the King

Upon our hearts, His name is written The King of Kings and Lord of Lords We're pouring out a song of praise together Upon Him, upon Him

Christ has died, we are forgiven And Christ alive, we are the risen And He shall come again Praise the King, praise the King

One name upon our lips, Jesus No greater name than this, Jesus And every knee will bow, every heart confess Jesus, Jesus One name upon our lips, Jesus No greater name than this, Jesus And every knee will bow, every heart confess Jesus, Jesus

Christ has died, we are forgiven

And Christ alive, we are the risen

And He shall come again

Praise the King, praise the King
